Pushkar is a small town of district Ajmer located in the state of Rajasthan. It is a famous Hindu pilgrimage centre, which is often called ‘Tirth Raj’. This place is situated on the banks of the Pushkar Lake. As per Hindu mythology, the origin of the place is associated with Lord Brahma. Ancient temples and Pushkar Fair are the major tourist attractions in Pushkar.


Among several Pushkar tourist places, the Brahma Temple is prominent. It was built during 14th century and is the only temple in India, which is dedicated to the creator, God Brahma. Another major attraction of the place is the Pushkar Lake, which sprawls over a large area and has 52 ghats. Everyday a large number of devotees visit this lake to take bath in the holy water. The popular Pushkar Fair is also organised on the banks of this lake, in the month of November. This five day event attracts visitors from all over the world. It is the world's largest camel and livestock fair.


A trip to Pushkar seems incomplete without visiting other sacred shrines such as the Savitri Temple, the Rangji Temple and the Man Mahal. The Savitri Temple stands remarkably atop Ratnagiri Hill, which is close to Pushkar Lake. Pushkar Bazaar is a clear demonstration of rich cultural heritage and handicrafts of Rajasthan.
